BACK TO TEAM PAGE

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Well, my Dashboard, today, the last day of our challenge, is not letting me record my daily activities like it has during all the prior days, so, I am not able to check in. I am not sure if the day has officially ended and I don't realize it because it is still more than three hours before midnight CST or if some other malfunction is happening.

    Food Meet My Local Farmers
When you know who produces your food, you are connecting personally to your complex regional food system. What are the advantages of knowing who produces your food and where it comes from? How can knowing their food producers enable someone to advocate for a better quality of life for those who produce their food, both near and far?

Bonton Farms in south of Dallas has great volunteer opportunities and serves an excellent farm fresh breakfast!!  A friend of mine tends the goats out there on Saturdays, but I'm actually interested in the vegetable garden - getting local kids involved in health and nutrition and providing healthy foods to residents of food desserts.

Last day of EcoChallenge!  I'm definitely taking the habit of Joyful Movement and an additional 30 minutes of sleep forward.  I have also learned more about racial justice and voter suppression.  The big bonus - I lowered my electric bill by going green!!

I enjoy taking even 15 minutes to watch the sunset to reflect on my day and being thankful and grateful.

Oh no!  Only 3 days left and I haven't been able to calculate my water footprint!  I live in condo and don't have separate metering for water use - any thoughts or ideas??

Lots of walking outdoors in Vegas this weekend. I took more interest and appreciation for the resorts means of using less water by asking us to reuse our towels. There was also many places to fill up reusable water containers.

2 more days left to the challenge.  Very excited to see the impacts we have made.

Last few days of the EcoChallenge!  You can go backwards and check off your activities if you did them but didn't check in on that day - please do.  We are still earning more points per person than our MI and CA peers - so let's continue to ROCK this challenge!!

    Energy Choose Clean/Renewable Energy
How might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the shift to clean energy?

One thing I learned is that you do need to review your energy bills and track your usage.  Some of the least expensive plans were for much more electricity than I use and would have, based on my use, turned out to be much more expensive.   I've been on the same TXU plan for years - and it was too expensive!  Going green for me is actually cheaper!
