Sydney's actions
Waste
Skip the Straw
Do at Home
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Water
5-Minute Showers
Do at Home
I will save up to 6 gallons (23 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Sydney P28A 10/26/2021 3:57 PMWhen I use multiple reuseable straws each day I wonder if it is still eco-friendly because of how it needs more water to be washed. -
Sydney P28A 10/26/2021 3:56 PMIt's important to continue my actions even after the eco challenge is over, I am now thinking about other things I can incorporate into my daily life to better the Earth.-

Sydney P28A 10/26/2021 3:54 PMWith a day left of the eco challenge, I have realized how simple it really is to care about the Earth. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterName some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?
Sydney P28A 10/26/2021 3:54 PMI realize how much water I use each day, when I brush my teeth, do laundry, and water plants. To keep these water systems healthy I can make it a habit to be more considerate about how much water I use each day. -
Sydney P28A 10/17/2021 11:10 AMBy keeping reuseable bags in the back of my parents car I won’t be able to forget them. -
Sydney P28A 10/14/2021 1:35 PMI think that I prefer metal straws over the reuseable hard plastic ones, but I do think my reusable plastic ones have good designs compared to the metal ones. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Sydney P28A 10/14/2021 1:35 PMI think that if I pay attention more to what can be recycled and not buy as many clothes as I do I could make a difference. -
Sydney P28A 10/14/2021 1:31 PMIf you ever need a place to get reuseable bags I recommend Trader Joe’s because they have plenty of designs. -
Sydney P28A 10/14/2021 1:29 PMYesterday I had forgot to bring a reuseable bag to Target, I thought I would have to carry what I bought but I remembered that I had left a bag in the back of my dads car. -
Sydney P28A 10/14/2021 1:26 PMI think it’s very good that I am being more concerned about the Earth. I can see myself continuing with these goals long term.
