REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Research Voter SuppressionWhat are the ways in which voters are prohibited from or discouraged from voting in your region and/or state? What could be done to get rid of these barriers?
Bex! S 10/27/2021 8:58 AMI was surprised to read about factors that influence the competitiveness of races. It should have occurred to me that feeling like you don't have an impact on outcome discourages voting (I did start as a democrat voter in Alaska). Gerrymandering/redistricting reform and limiting large donors/promoting small donors were two voter suppression topics that surprised me. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Volunteer in My CommunityWhat is one thing you can do to help your community become more sustainable?
Bex! S 10/26/2021 8:57 AMI was aiming to ride my bike to a volunteer event for a sustainable effort, but the weather is not cooperating! (And riding in the pouring rain, leaving my bike locked up in the pouring rain, volunteering in the pouring rain, etc. doesn't float my boat. Or maybe it does and that's the whole problem - I can't get anywhere form my house by boat!) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Practice Gratitude for EarthKathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How can we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?
Bex! S 10/19/2021 8:24 AMHuh, I'm not sure that's the importance of gratitude that's pops to mind for me. I think of cultivating a sense of gratitude as being a way to shift your mental out look, to choose happiness, optimism, contentment. -
Bex! S 10/18/2021 8:47 AMEach day is a new chance to try your daily actions. Yesterday's miss is already in the past. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?
Bex! S 10/18/2021 8:45 AMI doubled down by going somewhere new and going somewhere specifically to enjoy the changing seasons picking a trail with views and deciduous trees (changing colors). -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Track My PurchasesWhat have you noticed about your purchases? Where are you inclined to make shifts, if any?
Bex! S 10/15/2021 8:24 AMGah - I thought technology would make this easier, but it's only marginally less tedious than balancing a checkbook. Thus so far I have only noticed I make many purchases. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Enjoy the Sunrise/SunsetFather Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?
Bex! S 10/11/2021 10:08 AMCelebrating different seasons is the key to changing the "it's going to rain forever narrative". There is so much to enjoy at every time of year! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity De-Clutter My HomeHow can you prevent yourself from accumulating more things in the future?
Bex! S 10/11/2021 10:07 AMI love when I can opt out of stuff to begin with. Once something crosses the threshold, it becomes harder to get rid of. But when I can keep the promotional t-shirt, the fancy bag from the boutique, the obligation gift from ever coming home, that's a win. -
Bex! S 10/08/2021 8:37 AMI feel so cool an sophisticated when I put on some classical music and read a little in the morning. Plus I feel like I accomplished something great before the day even begins.
