Waste Advocate For More Food Packaging Options
What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

Some local grocery stores use a lot of plastic bags and advocate for little reusable bags, and the amount of plastic being produced from one store is tremendous. When compared to all the stores in the community, plastic use is increasing at a rapid rate and can greatly affect our oceans and everyday life.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Explore My Area
How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?

It felt really nice and free spending that much time outside. I explored some new trails because I haven't spent much time around here and it was a great experience. It was sunny today, but there was a chill air and it felt so calming just walking around! It relaxed me much more than usual because I know tomorrow is going to rain, so I'll be studying all day.

How does improving your home's energy efficiency help you better live out your values?

Fixing the the amount of energy used in a house hold does have a huge impact when it comes to climate change because it does reduce the amount of fossil fuels exerted

Today I spent some time researching how to heat up my house without using much energy because it is starting to get colder. I also made some green beans today because a healthy body is just as important as a healthy earth :)

Today, I used transportation that does not require much gas. I walked to nearby stores to do some food shopping and things for school rather than using a car!

Tomorrow is going to be a pretty long day so I decided to take a break today and walk outside for 30 minutes just to get a small break :)

Today I made some meals for my mom, sister, and myself. I also learned that email does use a lot of energy sources, including fossil fuels, so I spent some time today unsubscribing and deleting a lot of my emails. Turning off notifications for google classroom was a big one.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Needs Vs. Wants
How is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?

    Divya Ranjith's avatar
    Divya Ranjith 10/17/2021 12:05 PM
You have to think a lot about meaningful ways you can make the small things natural. Creativity also means finding ways to make yourself better in a way that works just for you. This can help you practice simplicity on a daily basis.

Today I spent the whole day cooking with my mom meals for the whole week. This way I won't need to buy from fast food restaurants that often.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water Collect Rain Water
Trace the water that flows down the drain from your house to the largest body of water nearby. What is the route it takes?

    Divya Ranjith's avatar
    Divya Ranjith 10/15/2021 6:13 PM
It takes it straight to the lake in front of my house. A lot of water flows through there, especially when it's raining.
