    Water Install a Low-Flow Showerhead
How can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?

    Wendy Olmstead's avatar
    Wendy Olmstead 10/21/2021 9:25 AM
As we are in an ongoing drought with no end in sight, our region/household can replace lawns with drought-tolerant plants, replace appliances/showerheads/toilets with water-efficient models, and stop washing our cars so frequently.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Justice for the Whole Community Learn More about Food Apartheid
What can lack of access to nutritious food affect a community? How can having access to nutritious food help a community become more resilient?

    Wendy Olmstead's avatar
    Wendy Olmstead 10/21/2021 9:11 AM
Lack of access to nutritious food affects a community's health and ability to work and take care of their homes and outdoor environment. Access to nutritious food helps communities to deal with issues like the pandemic through lowered levels of obesity and co-morbidities that make people more vulnerable to the virus.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

    Wendy Olmstead's avatar
    Wendy Olmstead 10/19/2021 10:34 AM
I know that we can reduce our water footprint, mainly by removing our lawn and replacing it with drought tolerant, native plants.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Water Mulch the Base of Trees and Plants
Where are your nearest natural bodies of water? How might they be affected by runoff?

    Wendy Olmstead's avatar

The San Joaquin River is affected by runoff from pesticides due to spraying of crops.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Water Insulate Water Pipes and Water Heater
How do you think climate change will affect your region’s water supply? Think about the effects of weather, storms, salinity, and sea level rise, among other changes. How can you find out more about climate change’s impact to your region's water?

    Wendy Olmstead's avatar
    Wendy Olmstead 10/18/2021 11:57 AM

  • REFLECTION QUESTION

    Wendy Olmstead's avatar
    Wendy Olmstead 10/18/2021 11:41 AM
Drought, wildfires, pollution, and a large and growing urban population demanding more water are all prominent water concerns in California.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Justice for the Whole Community Learn About Local Environmental Justice Concerns
Who is most affected by environmental degradation and/or environmental irresponsiblity in your community? How are they affected?

    Wendy Olmstead's avatar
    Wendy Olmstead 10/18/2021 11:36 AM
Communities of color, low-income, and indigenous communities are most impacted by environmental degradation because their homes are located closest to pollution and landfills and they are least able to afford relocation and lack funds to deal with air and water pollution in their homes. Flint, Michigan is a prime example of this.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Healing and Renewal Research Restorative Justice
How can Restorative Justice help foster the well-being of both people and planet?

    Wendy Olmstead's avatar
    Wendy Olmstead 10/17/2021 6:02 PM
Restorative justice offers the chance to heal for both victims and their perpetrators while also offering ways to lessen prison sentences and restore people to contributing to making a better world.
