Do at Home
I will keep 1 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
Do at Home
I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Do at Home
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Action Track: Healing and Renewal
Practice Gratitude for Earth
Do at Home
I will spend 45 minute(s) per day outside, practicing gratitude (prayer, meditation, journaling, etc.) for Earth and my natural surroundings.
Action Track: Healing and Renewal
Joyful Movement
Do at Home
I will spend 30 minutes doing an activity where I'm both moving my body and enjoying myself.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Marie-France Lemire 10/06/2021 5:31 PMI start by drinking coffee from home. I can use my favorite ceramic cup! Sorry, Starbuck! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Marie-France Lemire 10/06/2021 5:28 PMTap water is unsafe to drink where I live. I have to buy the 5 gallons water bottles. No choice there, unfortunately. However, I do not use small plastic bottles. I fill up my to-go bottle when I go out for a walk and refill my sippy cup throughout the day. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Skip the StrawHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Marie-France Lemire 10/06/2021 5:23 PMI repurpose plastic food containers. They become art supplies and plant containers. If a store gives me a plastic bag, I repurpose it as a trash bag. I use net bags for fruits and veggies at the grocery store. I use a towel to dry my hands instead of paper towels.-
Cora Lansdowne 10/06/2021 7:15 PMWe've been trying out the Tru Earth laundry detergent sheets and BlueLand hand soap to cut down on single use plastic. Always looking for ways we can do more with the "R's"!

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Joyful MovementWhat's your favorite activity(ies) in which you experience joy while being active and moving?
Marie-France Lemire 10/06/2021 5:18 PMI love swimming in the morning, the water flowing around me, the weightlessness, the rhythmic movements. I am in the present moment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and Renewal Practice Gratitude for EarthKathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How can we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?
Marie-France Lemire 10/06/2021 5:15 PMI do agree with Kathleen. First, be grateful to yourself. Be grateful for what you have. When you live in a spirit of abundance and are grateful, you are able to give and give freely. If you are happy, give a smile to a stranger! You may change his (her) day. Small actions make riples.
