Do at Home
Access to affordable, nutritious food is a food justice issue. I will advocate for local and/or organic food options at work, on campus and/or in the spaces I frequent.

Suzanne Jones 10/15/2021 12:07 PMI am counting this action because I attended a meeting with the Community Development Committee with the local government. Although the meeting was supposed to include climate action planning, we never got the chance to talk aobut it, except for a shoreline plan so I didn't get to advocate for growing and eating local food for climate change mitigation. -
Suzanne Jones 10/15/2021 12:04 PMFor lunch today I had zucchini lazagna and a salad. All the veetables in the meal came from local farmers. Some days it is easier to eat local food than others, but I have been attempting to create my meals around foods I know I can get at the farmer's market.-
Katy Taylor 10/16/2021 7:44 PMnice, Suzanne! i grow many of my veggies and try to eat mostly from the garden. have recently stopped buying avocados and fruit that has to travel in planes to get here... we just found a local place for meat on Marrowstone: One Straw Ranch, for when we want some animal protein. -
Teresa Broadus 10/15/2021 4:27 PMI'm working on a hormone reset....they say we should be eating at least 1 pound of vegetables a day.....oh my goodness. This is quite a lot!

Suzanne Jones 10/14/2021 8:06 PMI have been very busy doing a lot of online work, so I have been making do with what i cold easily get my hands on. I went to the farmer's market last Saturday and bought a lot of vegetables and I've been eating those. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Advocate for More Food OptionsWhat changes would help food insecure regions have access to local, seasonal foods? How can your choices contribute to these changes?
Suzanne Jones 10/14/2021 8:05 PMIn my area, there is a lot of local food availabl, even beef, pork, eggs, and fish. It's all very expensive and the farms cannot directly accept food stamps, although you can get some food stamps tokens at the farmer's market. So, less expensive foods. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Locally-Sourced MealsIf you were to only eat what is in season locally from now on, what would be the most difficult food item for you to give up? Why?
Suzanne Jones 10/14/2021 8:03 PMI couldn't afford to eat only locally. I can get most of what I want, I just can't afford it. -
Suzanne Jones 10/07/2021 7:45 PMAs so often happens, I was so busy dealing with meetings and baking a cake for my partner's birthday, I forgot to do any actions today, but intend to do better tomorrow. -
Suzanne Jones 10/06/2021 10:18 AMHi Local 20/20 team.
This will be my third time joining the ecochallege. Ive learned a lot about my habits of driving, shopping and cooking during the last two challenges. It was fun and has definitely impacted the way I do things now as opposed to how I did them before I took the challenges. Have fun!
