I'm kinda melancholy, as it's disappointing that the challenge is just about over. There's so much more to do and learn!

Biggest take-aways is that there is so much to learn about and act upon, and that we can't get complacent. I found myself reading a lot and doing some actions, but always wanting to do more. I ended up recording only the easy things, and forgetting to post about some of the more interesting things I was working on. I was doing it to learn, not to perform, so I guess that's why I put it off. But I do want to keep working with the information posted long after the challenge ends - so much to read, share, and do.

crazy amounts of wind and rain today - I took two walks around my yard checking to see what damage occurred, while also celebrating the revival of some drought-damaged plants. Power outage earlier tonight reminds me of how precarious our electric system is, and how grateful I am to be in a position to prepare for outages without too much inconvenience. I hope the more vulnerable were safe and cared for, and lament the healthy issues that prevent me from providing direct care to others.

Spent the day prepping for tomorrow's expected storm (supposedly 6 inches of rain on Sunday). I fear for the health and safety of so many (human and non-human animals) amid this storm, and for the environmental damage occurring throughout the drought-ravaged region and in the burn scars. Our vulnerabilities to climatic events cannot be laid more bare than in the past two years.

Rain on and off today, and so wonderful to see the trees and plants get some refreshment. Unfortunately, with rain for the next several days, including a predicted 5.5" on Sunday, we'll soon have flooding after months of drought. And yet too many continue to deny that we're in the midst of a climate crisis. Time to send some more messages to elected officials to try to maintain attention to climate in the infrastructure bill and all other bills.

Today I got to read some more about sustainable agriculture, and feel like I'm still at a point where I have more new questions than perspectives on how we can further advance this work in a systemic matter.

I didn't make time today to do new learning about sustainability and need to double-up tomorrow.

I had such a fulfilling day today even as I endured 11 hours on Zoom. Among other things, I talked to a colleague about her work creating a community garden, talked to a new friend about her work addressing food waste and creating systems to rescue foods that might go to waste, and re-watched the amazing documentary-in-development Fire and Flood that continues to inspire me to approach ecojustice from intersectional, inclusionary perspectives. It's been a long day, but I am enriched. I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.

I had a lovely 90 minutes this morning sitting in the sun reading -so good for my spirit.

I got to spend some time today prepping for the rain/snow that's about to arrive tonight and later this week. The dryness is startling, and I'm so grateful that precipitation is coming. I can't wait to take a walk in the rain/snow and to see the trees and plants nourished, and more opportunities for deer and squirrels to get refreshed. I'm hoping this wetness can help ease the rise of bark beetles and decrease fire danger.
