Camille Williams 10/27/2021 9:34 AMOverall, I learned quite a bit from this challenge. Some of the actions that I took were a bit more of a challenge then I thought they would be compared to others. There were times I found to be a challenge to complete my daily actions, such as spending a longer period of time outside or reducing screen time. Sometimes it was hard to avoid the screen if I needed to do schoolwork. There were also times it was hard to spend a longer period of time outside doing nature based activities because of the weather. But I was happy that I was at least able to complete these actions multiple times a week versus not doing them at all. I was also very happy to involve my daughter with this challenge as well. She has a better understanding that we need to help take care of our planet by saving energy with things like turning off the lights when not in use and adjusting the thermostat so it isn't being used as much. She also preferred taking more time out in nature versus sitting in front of a screen. She is becoming the one to remind me to turn off a light when I leave a room and to go outside for a walk. Because of this challenge I was able to learn more of what I could do to be more sustainable. I plan on continuing this journey and even expanding on it. -
Camille Williams 10/21/2021 8:54 AMSo far I am having a great experience. I am noticing I am able to catch on fairly quick with making changes to certain habits. I have had great experience adjusting my thermostat and have noticed I can make adjustments elsewhere if needed versus raising or lowering my heat/AC. If I am hot, I try to do something else to cool down, such as turn on a fan or open a window. If I am too cold, I put on a sweater or some socks. Though it has proven to be a bit more difficult to find ways to keep cool versus finding ways to warm up. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyWhat do you plan to do with the money you save from making more energy efficient choices?
Camille Williams 10/21/2021 8:49 AMI have been keeping an eye on my energy bills to see what difference this is making, I am expecting it to bring my average usage down. The money that I am saving from making the switch to cold water to wash my clothes and adjusting my thermostat, I plan on keeping within my living expense budget. If there is any left over from that, I put in my savings account. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat is one food choice that you make, or could make, that would do more good and less harm?
Camille Williams 10/21/2021 8:46 AMI am trying to keep to more plant-based meals or at least meatless meals. Shopping at the farmer's market, the produce I buy is a bit more pricey then what I paid for before, but examining the "true cost" of the produce I was getting before made it far more expensive in the end with the harm it does to get to me.
