Action Track: Justice for the Whole Community
Support Native Communities
Do at Home
I will use the resource links provided and spend 30 minutes learning about the native populations that lived in my area prior to colonization, and what I can do to support those that still exist.
Action Track: Healing and Renewal
Core Values
Do at Home
We may find more meaning and joy in life when our actions are aligned with our personal values. I will determine what my top 3-5 core values are so that I can better align my actions with them.
Water
Calculate My Water Footprint
Do at Home
I will calculate my Water Footprint to learn about my tap water use and "virtual water" use.
Water
Learning about and advocating for the health of the Fraser River
I commit to going to the Fraser River Discovery Centre in New Westminster BC Canada to learn more about the history and present health of the Fraser River. If this information is not there, I will spend at least one hour learning about these things: What relationships do the First Nations have with this river? What are the Indigenous ways of river management those of us who are non-Indigenous can learn from? How can I advocate for changes on how the river is managed federally, provincially and locally, based on Indigenous-led actions?
Action Track: Justice for the Whole Community
Learn About Trans, Femme, and Nonbinary Experiences
Do at Home
I will spend 30 minutes learning about the experiences of trans, femme, and/or nonbinary people.
Action Track: Justice for the Whole Community
Learn About Local Environmental Justice Concerns
Do at Home
I will spend 30 minutes researching environmental justice and environmental racism concerns in my region, who is affected by them, and local initiatives to address these concerns.
Water
Conserve Toilet Water
Do at Home
I will save up to 8 gallons (30 L) of water a day by flushing only when necessary.
Action Track: Healing and Renewal
Joyful Movement
Do at Home
I will spend 5 minutes doing an activity where I'm both moving my body and enjoying myself.
Action Track: Healing and Renewal
Nurture Self-Compassion
Do at Home
I will spend 15 minutes nurturing my Self-Compassion.

Rev. Meg Roberts 10/07/2021 10:38 AMI'm so excited to be doing this challenge with MetroVan Unitarians, here in Vancouver BC. I did it for a couple of years when I was serving with the Comox Valley Unitarians, in partnership with the Comox United Church. Beacon Unitarians did it last year as a community, and this year we're so thrilled that other Unitarian Universalists are joining us from other lower mainland communities! Together, we get stronger and can learn more and do more - and have some fun!
