Nature
Do Nature Activities
Do at Home
I will engage in nature-based activities alone, or with my friends or family, for 5 minute(s) each day. (This can be anything from going on a walk or hike, to noticing the leaves changing color, to reading a book with nature themes.)
Action Track: Healing and Renewal
Joyful Movement
Do at Home
I will spend 20 minutes doing an activity where I'm both moving my body and enjoying myself.
Water
Collect Rain Water
Do at Home
I will create a rain garden or bioswale or use rain barrels to collect water for outdoor watering needs.
Transportation
Research and Consider Switching to a Hybrid or Electric Vehicle
Do at Home
I will spend at least 30 minutes researching and weighing my options to see if a hybrid or electric vehicle makes sense for my lifestyle.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterTrace the water that flows down the drain from your house to the largest body of water nearby. What is the route it takes?
Amber Nobe 10/27/2021 10:54 PMI think about where our surface water goes a lot, actually, because our neighborhood doesn’t have storm drains and we don’t live close to any bodies of water. How much eventually evaporates vs infiltrating into the ground? And how does that infiltration affect us and what we grow, if the water isn’t treated? -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureWhat did you observe while spending time outside -- through sight, sound, smell and/or touch?
Amber Nobe 10/27/2021 10:50 PMI picked this challenge to motivate me to get outside even as it gets colder, wetter, and darker. I am happier when I get some outside time, and James is too. October, although a rainy one this year, is so beautiful with the fall colors. -
Amber Nobe 10/27/2021 10:46 PMGetting a cold this weekend means I did not finish off the challenge as strong as I started it. But the good news is that I can keep working on my challenges even if EcoChallenge is officially over! 🌎 -
