REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Justice for the Whole CommunityWhat can lack of access to nutritious food affect a community? How can having access to nutritious food help a community become more resilient?
Michael Meiferd 10/23/2021 9:58 AMI read through the resources provided by the Natural Resources Defense Council to begin to understand the changing thinking, approach, and the power of the terminology to affect change with leaders and those in positions of power.I want to advocate for and be part of a solution for food security. I signed up with the NRDC for alerts and opportunities to participate moving forward.I also listened to the Point of Origin podcast on Food Apartheid (November 2020). It provided nice framework and reinforcement of these issues.Food sovereignty is a difficult but worthy concept that is going to require significant changes in how we think about food. The company I work for has tried to be part of the solution at times, but probably cannot provide healthy and affordable options where they are most needed. -
Michael Meiferd 10/20/2021 11:05 AMEnjoying the great weather in the Midwest. One of the simple bits of wisdom I carry with me is from Kurt Vonnegut. "... I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, 'If this isn't nice, I don't know what is.'" -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Michael Meiferd 10/15/2021 9:16 AMI have found additional opportunities for outdoor activities now that the weather changed, and looking for more. -
Michael Meiferd 10/15/2021 9:15 AMEnjoying additional mindfulness -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyWhat are other easy things you could do to save energy and reduce your environmental footprint?
