REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterHow does your view on water consumption change after completing this action?
Lauren Massarella 10/14/2021 10:40 AMThis really shocked me. Although I fall below the American average for daily water consumption, I still use well over 1300 gallons per day. Most of it comes from my shopping habits and vegetarian diet. I'm going to work to be more mindful of this in the future by decreasing my shopping and researching ways to eat more sustainably. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureKathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How can we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?
Lauren Massarella 10/14/2021 10:22 AMI spent some time outside checking in on some of my plants. They've all been doing so well, and some of the ones that were struggling a bit seem to be making a comeback! It's so amazing to see how much some of these plants have grown. For a while, I struggled to keep plants alive, so it feels really rewarding to have seen myself come so far and become more in tune with nature. -
Lauren Massarella 10/13/2021 9:23 AMI have enjoyed returning to participate in The People's EcoChallenge this year thus far. In this last year, I have begun practicing more sustainable living habits in my everyday life. I've switched to shampoo bars, a safety razor, reusable mugs and bottles, reusable shopping bags, and thrifting for most of my clothes. Participating in this challenge is always a reminder of how much more I can be doing to educate myself and others on how to live sustainably. Something I often forget to do is take care of myself. I get so concerned with helping the environment that I stop eating correctly and don't give myself adequate gratitude. I'm glad that this challenge has helped to keep me accountable for my self-care.-
Office of Sustainability 10/15/2021 4:35 PMIt's great to hear that you are participating again and have added more sustainable habits! It's so important to take care of yourself in your activism too. Be sure to check out some of the pledges focused on self-care--those are just as important as the others!
