REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing and RenewalHow has the process of forgiving, or contemplating forgiveness, benefited you?
Deanna Chaney 10/16/2021 6:38 AMIt's helped me identify when forgiving hurts me and when it helps me. After reading and thinking on this topic, I feel better prepared to address conflict and find peace. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyAfter you determined your carbon footprint, did you see what different choices you can make in order to reduce it?
Deanna Chaney 10/13/2021 5:36 PMIt said our lifestyle requires 2.5 earth's to sustain! The biggest opportunity for our household is to reduce transportation emissions by switching to an electric vehicle. We could decrease our carbon footprint by letting go of fast fashion and buying from second-hand shops or from a sustainable clothing brand. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Deanna Chaney 10/12/2021 9:31 AMTaking a walk each day has helped clear my head and made me feel more productive once I'm done :)-
Joe O'Shaughnessy 10/12/2021 4:20 PMI totally agree. I had to take TWO walks today to get my head right. Feels so good when it's done.

REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyHow is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?
Deanna Chaney 10/10/2021 5:00 PMA majority of the energy source is natural gas, however the local electric co-op created a program to offset carbon emissions by generating energy from renewable sources like hydro and solar. As far as the impacts of natural gas, I'll try to keep it brief: natural gas has become the main energy source of the U.S. due to an increase in fracking. The good side is that it is supporting the effort for the energy independence of the whole country. Its high capacity factor and low levelized cost of electricity has been brought by and continues to encourage an expansion of natural gas excavation. Fracking can disturb habitats, pollute watersheds, cause increase in the number of earthquakes, and sometimes lead to social disputes over pipeline placements through protected or culturally significant lands. Further, greenhouse gas emissions from natural gas are a serious issue. The Environmental Protection Agency reported that in 2019, natural gas accounted for "80 percent of the direct fossil fuel CO2 emissions from the residential and commercial sectors."-
Stacy Strickland 10/12/2021 9:12 AMI love this research you did! I'm totally sharing with my partner as we were just discussing moving an appliance from gas to electric this past weekend... and I had such a hard time explaining why we need to make the switch.

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityHow can you prevent yourself from accumulating more things in the future?
Deanna Chaney 10/07/2021 4:14 PMI think being more aware of the difference between my needs and wants would keep me from accruing so many random items. I'm pretty impulsive, so this is gonna be a hard habit to pick up. 😅 -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteWhat have you learned about what is accepted by local haulers for recycling, what you can drop off or ship to certain places, and what is not recyclable in your area? What is the most difficult part of recycling for you?
Deanna Chaney 10/07/2021 4:11 PMMy city doesn't offer recycling pick up, but today I discovered an independent company that will pick up and sort recyclables! I'm interested to learn more about how their processing differs from the city's recycling center. -
Deanna Chaney 10/07/2021 4:00 PMGot two more partners on board today-- goooo team! We got this 😁 -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteReducing your paper mail can reduce mental clutter as well as physical waste -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?
Deanna Chaney 10/06/2021 6:04 PMI'm so excited to stop receiving so much paper waste-- what a load off! I'm gonna ask my friends and family if they want help stopping the inflow of junk mail too. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyHow might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the shift to clean energy?
Deanna Chaney 10/06/2021 5:44 PMI can teach others how to transition their homes to using clean energy and encourage them to pass on the news!
