REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityWhat are your top 3-5 core values? How did you narrow it down to those as being your core values?
Susan Kirkpatrick 10/22/2021 2:49 PMBe the Light, Help people and Make it fun. I narrowed it down to these based on my beliefs, my special skill and my happiest state. If I'm reflecting Christ in my words and deeds, my spiritual gifts to solve problems and help people, and finding a way to smile (or laugh) through any circumstance, then I'm making the world a better place. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationIt takes the average worker in the United States 26 minutes to travel to work. One way to fix long commutes would be to make cities more affordable. An even simpler option: promote the use of telework. How have you used technology to replace in-person meetings or work this year?
Susan Kirkpatrick 10/18/2021 7:19 AMI have been using Teams or Zoom to attend work and personal meetings, including church! Keeps me off the road and helps me avoid having to wear a mask... -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityWhat was it like to actively listen to someone? How did both people and the conversation(s) benefit from active listening?
Susan Kirkpatrick 10/18/2021 7:15 AMIt can be a challenge to stay present in a conversation! I found myself rushing to 'get through' a couple of conversations this week - surprising and a bit alarming.....I am committing to practicing active listening and making sure my conversation "partners" know that they are being heard. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Justice for the Whole CommunityWho is most affected by environmental degradation and/or environmental irresponsiblity in your community? How are they affected?
Susan Kirkpatrick 10/14/2021 7:31 AMDevelopment - or likely Overdevelopment - has the largest impact on environmental degradation in my community. We have wild animals on our streets because their natural habitat is disappearing. This has led to attacks on animals (my own included) which increases fear followed by an increase in stress....I know, first world problems and all....but the imapacts of too much construction are real on every living thing in the environment -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityNotice how much time you were spending checking email away from work and make note of that. Now that you have stepped away from it and have not been checking, what changes are you noticing in your thoughts, use of time, stress and energy levels?
Susan Kirkpatrick 10/11/2021 7:53 AMStress levels are lower and family time is higher (and higher quality)! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterHow does your view on water consumption change after completing this action?
Susan Kirkpatrick 10/08/2021 12:01 PMI am more present to water waste in my daily life and am becoming more adept at finding ways to reduce my water footprint.
