The tree's have all begun to change colors too, I like being encouraged to go outside every day because I've been able to watch them slowly transition.

Sophia Joseph 10/26/2021 9:30 AMMushrooms are popping up ALL over the parks and neighborhoods. On my walks I've been noticing new clusters every day. I want to get a plant ID book so I can identify and distinguish between them. -
Sophia Joseph 10/25/2021 4:37 PMAlso I just got a new cookbook on vegan meals. I'm already vegetarian but I want to see if I can take it a step further, even for a few meals a week :) -
Sophia Joseph 10/25/2021 4:37 PMI had to replace my bike tires last week which set me back on my travelling-- I resorted to using my older bike. My new bike is finally fixed and much better than before, hopefully I can start using it to get to work every day cutting down my use of transport by a lot! -
Sophia Joseph 10/17/2021 3:40 PMI've been more conscious of my consumption habits since committing to more plant based/whole foods. I've tried taking it a step further and challenging myself to committing to in season produce/locally grown produce to cut back on my carbon footprint. Some of my roommates have even gotten on board with me and we cook a few meat-free meals a week together! I hope it causes a ripple effect encouraging them to be more consistently plant-based as well. Although it can be difficult when shopping/eating out, I feel like I'm a more conscious consumer now that I've set these goals. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureWhat did you observe while spending time outside -- through sight, sound, smell and/or touch?
Sophia Joseph 10/12/2021 12:11 PMI went to the park and watched the ducks swim in the pond. There's a new family of ducklings who were getting a lot of attention. I paused for a while to watch them-- so cute!

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodMichael Pollan states that “it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor.” What are your thoughts on this assertion?
Sophia Joseph 10/12/2021 12:08 PMThis is an interesting reflection. I think a lot of health starts with our relationship to food, what goes into it, where it is sourced, how balanced our meal is etc. If our gut health is generally good, a lot of health concerns are no longer of concern. So I would agree with this statement. It's better to pay your farmer for quality food to nourish you to keep you healthy-- rather than eating poorer and treating your illness with medicine.
Interesting! -
Sophia Joseph 9/29/2021 11:26 PMI try to take public transport rather than cars whenever I am able to, but for even shorter trips I'm working on using my bike to cut back on my carbon footprint. Keeps me active too!
